As someone who likes fuss free make up, I wanted to test this out and see just how fuss free this is.
I have tried the original Color Tattoo’s before, and despite their popularity, I did not like them. (They were too dry and it felt like I was dragging my eyelid with the eyeshadow.) I tried their crayon formula, and was much more successful and happy with that product (review here).
So when they came out with the Chrome version, I decided to give it a try.
Let’s get into this review!
It is a cream formula, so it does come in a tube. The tube does not feel cheap, and I could totally see other higher-end brands using a similar tube.
The dome foot applicator is a good size.
In terms of the formula, the color I purchased (Beige Luster) was a very pale skin color with a lot of small sparkles.
You can either pile it up or sheer it out very easy (it doesn’t take a lot of work).
Now, I didn’t realize how pigmented it would come on so when I first put it on, it was super sparkly which, I didn’t like (but that was my fault… I should’ve gotten the hint from the name).
But even though initial application is super pigmented, as you go in with your finger (or brush, but I recommend finger more than brush) it sheers out to the point where you lose the bam it first gave you.
The first time I tried it, I forgot to do the primer test, so in the picture below it’s all with primer.
As you can see in this picture, the eyeshadow looks like it was applied super unevenly.
Now, that is one of my problems with this product is that it looks so uneven on camera. In person though, it looks more even. However, at the end of the day, upon closer inspection, it did look like some areas of my eyes had a more concentrated amount of product.
So if you have one of these, or want to get one, I suggest as applying it as evenly as possible.
I tried this when I first got it, but I didn’t sit down to write this review until a good 2-3 weeks after trying it. So I tried it again, this time remembering to do the primer test.
Now, you can see on this picture that the eyeshadow seems basically non existent and that’s because unlike the first picture where I put on the product after doing my crease, I actually applied the product first and then applied the crease.
So in this picture, the sparkles are not that existent but that’s also because it didn’t come off well in my pictures. In person, they were definitely still there, and very much existent.
It turns out that you can wear this product without primer, which is a big plus for me!
I initially did not like this product just on the basis that it was so much work (it takes an extra few seconds to get the coverage even – to the naked eye) and so bright. But after trying it the second time, it started to grow on me.
That day, I was having a great make up day.
So I think if you are into sparkles, this cream eyeshadow is definitely worth the purchase. I’m not going to buy any of the other colors but stick with this one I own because it’s actually the most neutral of all the colors.
The formula is great and definitely creamy and easy to apply. But I will be saving this product for special occasions, or when I just want to feel glam.
Let me know what you think!
