Exploring: Universal Studios Hollywood LA, CA

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetI’ve been to the Disneyland in LA and wanted to spend my day and a half in LA in a productive way by doing something I’ve never done before. And visiting Universal Studios is on my bucket list.

Now, I was actually worried that Universal might be too big for just a one day adventure but, boy, was I wrong.

Of course I had to take a picture with the Universal Globe. Processed with VSCOcam with a5 preset

I went with my sister and she took this photo with me. But what is so funny is that if she waited an extra second or two, you could be able to see the entire word, ‘Universal’. Still, at least I got the globe without a swarm of tourists photo bombing me.

Next, I took a picture at the red carpet laid out.

But it’s hard to see the words so I just posted the picture that has the palm trees.

It was quite a warm day so many people were in short sleeves and shorts.

The first thing my sister and I wanted to hit was Minion Mayhem. Which is pretty much a Minions ride.Processed with VSCOcam with b5 preset

It was so cute because they had Gru’s house and then the Girl’s Home (forgot the name…) next to it. Now, one thing I didn’t know was that Universal Studios is NOT like Disneyland. The rides they actually have there are more simulation rides. There are no actual roller coasters. Oh, but there are those tiny kiddy rides by Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetSpringfield. Other than that, mostly simulation.

When we left, my sister and I got a picture with a minion! So adorable. I just want to know how a human being gets inside the costume…

Next stop was Springfield. It was probably the busiest of the lot, for, you know, obvious reasons.

There was another simulation ride in Krustyland.

After that simulation, my sister and I went to go grab some lunch. Now, I had a horrible experience here.

My sister and I both wanted to eat at the Minion’s cafe because, why wouldn’t I?

So I ordered a meatball sandwich and my sister the kiddy meal. Keep in mind that by that time of the day, it was Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetextremely humid. They had ran out of meat balls and told me that it was going to be 10 minutes. So I waited. In my opinion, 10 minutes isn’t very long for a good lunch. But it took them way past half an hour. While I wasn’t hungry when I ordered, by the time I left I was famished.

I just ended up getting a refund and then going to get a Krusty Burger. It was mediocre at best.

After lunch, my sister and I waited in line for the Universal Studios tour.

If you need an excuse to go to Universal Studios, the tour is it.

It’s fun, you learn a lot, and there are enough simulations in the hour to keep you very muchProcessed with VSCOcam with c1 preset entertained. I think that was really the highlight of the day.

And we got to see Whoville! It was amazing.

We got a cool ice cream where they swirled soft serve with a flavor so it was sweet and flavorful like a gelato of sorts.

There was also a Shrek simulation was so downright hilarious. I would say that they should’ve made it into a movie. It would be amazing, like all Shrek movies!

I think the second high light of the day came when they had the Water show. I don’t remember the exact name, but it was pretty much a life performance of a skit that lasted about 15-20 minutes and involved a lot of water.

It was hilarious, fun, and full of a plot. I wish I could’ve seen the actors closer but other than that, it was worth the wait for sure. During the show, I think several older Asian women didn’t know that they were sitting in the wet zone so when one of the actors came in on a jet ski and soaked the entire front row, they ended up running away. It was so hilarious seeing them dripping wet.

Universal Studios is definitely fun and exciting. But maybe because it’s LA so there isn’t as much space for cooler things. I’m still planning on going to the Orlando one because it has Harry Potter World. And also because it’s so hyped up that I want to see what the big deal is. I will also be going to Disney world! For sure.

Don’t forget to SM:)LE today!
