It’s been awhile since I’ve done a blogary so I decided to do one today, in honor of the 2nd snow day since semester began last week.
We were scheduled to get a couple of inches of snow, and as soon as I walked outside, I could see that we finally got the predicted amount of snow. Now, this probably wouldn’t have been a big deal if we had gotten our forecasted blizzard from last week. But since we did, this is quite a big deal.
As soon as I walked outside, my breath was taken away by the sheer force of something so beautiful, pure, innocent, and dangerous thing falling from the sky.
It was so beautiful.
I don’t know about where you are from, but I grew up in a country with no snow fall (unless you live in the mountains), and then I moved to a city where snow fall happened like once or twice every other year.
So upon seeing all this snow, I was fascinated. But at the same time, I knew that the fascination will be over in a couple of days when the snow becomes a huge hindrance.
But for now, I was ready to appreciate its beauty with the day of no classes.
Maybe it was because I was so happy and excited, but it wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be. My body was very warm, and the only part of my body that was aching was my face from the power of the wind blowing to my face. At that moment, I realized that I only like summer wind, not winter wind.
The walk through the snow was a pain. I had to take large steps and I couldn’t drag my feet on the ground like I usually do (which I also know isn’t good for me anyway). But it felt so nice to have something obscure my walking path since the athletics facilities were closed for the day. At least I got some sort of a workout by walking outside
In that moment I could feel my whole heart fall in love with my school even more. I must admit that in the past week, I have really had negative feelings towards my school. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing actually wrong with it. But there are some people that were really beginning to bug me.
They had no sense of space, and no self consciousness of others.
But then I saw this scene, and it made me so happy. It made me forget about all the people that were annoying me, and showed me why I fell in love with this school in the first place.
The entire duration of the walk was very scenic. I think what made it even more amazing was that I wasn’t listening to music. I was hearing Mother Nature’s sound.
I could hear the wind. I could feel the gentle snow clinging onto my eyelashes.
I felt every moment.
Even though snow does become burdensome, it is such a beautiful phenomenon.
It brings people together. It encourages everyone to take a break and enjoy the day.
This love for snow may not last forever, but I will forever remember this feeling I had.
Stay safe everyone!
Don’t forget to SM:)LE today!
